Position:                     Production Coordinator 

 

Location:                   South Auckland

 

Our client is a highly successful, NZ-owned apparel business operating in the business to business sector. They are looking for a Production Coordinator to join their busy and dynamic team.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

GARMENT SPECIFICATIONS

  • Develop and prepare men’s and women’s garment specifications.
  • Provide garment sketches to accompany garment specifications.
  • Prepare and maintain a complete library of reference and samples, swatches and range notes prior to new season range release. 

QUALITY CONTROL

  • Ensure all garment specifications meet product standards.
  • Request, comment on and approve all samples required during the development process and approve for bulk production.
  • Undergo sample testing on fabrics and garment embellishments checking for shrinkage, pilling, colour fastness, dye migration etc. 

PREPARATION OF COSTING INFORMATION AND COSTING SHEETS

  • Send fabric cuttings to factories for costing, reference and for the sourcing of suitable options.
  • Prepare and email information to obtain FOB prices from China -based factories for development styles – sketch, yield, size information, fabric, garment construction, trim and stitching details all need to be shown.
  • Have the experience to find alternative fabric and styling options that will achieve a similar look for the target price or improve delivery times.
  • Generate a costing sheet, with the correct pricing structure for each individual customer’s requirements at the correct exchange rate. 

PREPARATION OF PRICE AND STYLE INFORMATION FOR BUYERS

  • Prepare quotes using finalized prices to be submitted to the customer.
  • Put sketches, digital photos and swatches into an easy to use form that suits each customer’s requirements/system.
  • Prepare presentation folders for specific meetings. 

STYLING INPUT AND PRODUCT/RANGE DEVELOPMENT

  • Work with the Account Manager in a support role.
  • Source styling ideas for the local market with the Account Manager and develop those ideas into a saleable form.
  • Have input in the styling/sketching of development styles to be sampled by China factories.  

CUSTOMER LIAISON AND ATTENDANCE OF MEETINGS

  • Liaise with customers in a support role to the Account Manager.
  • Problem solve with an outcome oriented focus when problems arise, in conjunction with the Account Manager.
  • Assist the Account Manager with follow up from meetings and communication back to the buyers when required. 

ADMINISTRATION, PROCESSING OF ORDERS AND PRODUCTION

  • Generate sample request sheets.
  • Develop artwork for customer labels, prints etc.
  • Attend weekly production meetings with production team to follow all production details.
  • Process approvals from customers/buyers and communicate these comments/approvals to China factories.
  • Garment fittings will also be required for the above.
  • Measure and check samples, lab dips and bulk fabrics in conjunction with the Account Manager.
  • Send local courier packages. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure all the above functions are performed to maintain established delivery dates.
  • Ensuring all lab dips, bulk fabrics and counter samples arriving in from overseas suppliers are checked thoroughly and dispatched to buying offices for approval in a timely manner to maintain delivery dates.
  • Ensure all approvals and comments received from buying offices are communicated in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • Complete costing sheets accurately using the correct pricing and costing elements for each specific order and customer.
  • Operate in an efficient way at all times.

    Skills, Experience and Attributes Required:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role with proven successes.
  • An eye for commercial styling and a flair for commercial fashion.
  • Excellent computer skills – Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Illustrator, Photoshop.
  • Ability to complete accurate specification spread sheets in Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills & attention to detail.
  • Offshore experience a necessity!
